Last year was complicated, but man, did it make for some AMAZING music.
Nick Jonas’ new album is fun, introspective, well-written, and definitely well-produced.
“Good Girls” is a standout track. It hits home in a society where Instagram likes on a provocative photo sometimes seem to garner more attention than anything else, making life somewhat difficult for the younger generation, to say the least.
“Chainsaw” is a post-breakup song that transports the listener effortlessly into his heartbreak; it’s hard to believe that this isn’t a subject near and dear to Nick, and you can hear it in his vocals.
“The Difference” is an absolute favorite, though. The beat is classic pop/R&B, and those sultry vocals don’t need to be described. Perfection.
The singles hold their own, of course – “Under You” and “Close” are as enjoyable as ever.
I can honestly say I love listening to this entire album, from the slow jams to the uptempo tracks. I don’t say that about mainstream albums very often. Kudos, Nick.
His and Demi Lovato’s joint tour, Future Now, kicked off this month. I’ll be at the Brooklyn date this Friday night, so stay tuned for a review!
